Growing Wellbeing Through Hands-On Learning
There’s something special about getting your hands in the soil, working alongside others and seeing something grow. It’s this simple connection with gardening and nature that makes Plantfulness and Hands-on Learning such a natural fit.
Plantfulness is about more than gardening. It’s about creating opportunities for mindfulness, human connection and wellbeing through meaningful, hands-on experiences. By providing equipment and resources to schools, Plantfulness helps create spaces where young people can connect with nature, learn practical skills and experience the wellbeing benefits of being active and involved.

Supporting Schools, Growing Connections
Plantfulness has supported 143 schools, providing 4,646 items with an RRP value of $94,784.90, across five states.
The impact can be seen in the experiences schools are creating with these resources.
At Damascus College in Ballarat, donated tools have supported gardening, bush projects, firewood collection and raised garden beds. An artisan-teacher shared:
“With these extra tools, there is a meaningful project for each student to invest in.”
For one student with a physical disability, the raised garden bed and appropriately weighted gardening tools created an opportunity to take part in a meaningful project.

At Illawarra Primary School in Tasmania, the arrival of their Plantfulness resources brought plenty of excitement:
“Our students look forward to the arrival of the Plantfulness order each year – it’s a bit like Christmas for them!”
The school described the resources as helping create engaging learning experiences while building confidence, practical skills and a love of learning.
And at Wellard Village Primary School in WA:
“We are very excited to start some new projects with our order items.”
More Than Equipment
The value of these resources goes beyond the tools themselves. They help create opportunities for students to connect, participate, contribute and learn through doing.
A garden can become a place for collaboration. A project can build confidence. Time spent working with plants and nature can provide a moment to slow down, be present and connect with others.
That is the heart of what Plantfulness supports: bringing people together through gardening, nature and meaningful hands-on experiences.
With 143 schools supported and 4,646 items sent out, Plantfulness is helping create more opportunities for young people to learn, connect and grow—both in the garden and beyond.
