We’re pretty excited to say that our first Plantfulness event in Tasmania is officially in the books!

We joined the wonderful team at Material Institute Tasmania at their Bridgewater hub for a day of getting our hands in the dirt, sowing seeds and potting up seedlings ready for spring.

There’s something pretty special about getting a group of people together around a garden. A few hours of planting might seem like a small thing, but those little seedlings have a much bigger journey ahead of them.

The herbs and veggies we planted will be heading out to support community food programs and school gardens through our friends at 24 Carrot Gardens Tasmania. And that’s where the real excitement starts.

School gardens are so much more than a place to grow a few veggies. They’re outdoor classrooms, places to get hands-on, opportunities to learn where our food comes from, and spaces where students can connect with nature and each other.

We’re particularly excited about helping more schools get their gardens growing across Tasmania. By providing tools and practical support, we can help create more opportunities for students to get involved in gardening and experience the many benefits that come from spending time outside and getting their hands dirty.

For us, this is what Gardening for Good is all about.

It’s about working alongside organisations that are already doing incredible things in their communities and lending a hand where we can. Sometimes that means tools. Sometimes it means volunteers. And sometimes, like this day in Bridgewater, it means a whole lot of seeds, seedlings and people willing to get stuck in.

A huge thank you to the Material Institute Tasmania team and to all of our volunteers who came along and helped get these plants started.

We can’t wait to see where these seedlings end up, the gardens they help grow and the communities they become part of.

This was our first Plantfulness event in Tasmania, but hopefully it’s just the beginning.

Because when you grow a garden, you’re growing a whole lot more than food.
