Growing Communities Through Gardening
At Plantfulness, every partnership is built on a simple belief: gardens have the power to improve lives. By connecting people with nature, fostering community and supporting wellbeing, Plantfulness works alongside organisations that are creating meaningful impact through gardening.
Kevin Heinze Grow is one of those organisations.
Kevin Heinze Grow programs exist to relieve the distress, helplessness, and social isolation experienced by people with disability and mental ill-health through evidence-based therapeutic horticulture – by contributing volunteer labour and resources directly into their programs, Plantfulness’s partnership provides tangible, demonstrable benevolent relief to this population, not merely a general wellbeing benefit, giving Plantfulness a direct and evidenced connection to a genuinely disadvantaged group.
To support this shared vision, Plantfulness coordinated a volunteer working bee, bringing together passionate volunteers to help enhance the Kevin Heinze Grow gardens. The team cleaned and refreshed the lunch area, revitalised walking paths and assisted with potting activities, creating welcoming spaces that participants, volunteers and visitors can enjoy every day.

Adding to the day was Melissa King, Better Homes and Gardens presenter and Northcote Pottery Ambassador, who generously shared her horticultural expertise and practical gardening tips. Melissa’s passion for connecting people with plants inspired volunteers and reinforced the positive impact that gardening can have on health, wellbeing and community.

Plantfulness has also provided gardening tools and equipment to support Kevin Heinze Grow’s ongoing therapeutic horticulture programs, ensuring participants have the resources they need to continue learning, growing and connecting through nature.
This partnership reflects what Plantfulness is all about—bringing together volunteers, community organisations, industry partners and gardening experts to create healthier, greener and more connected communities.
Together, we’re showing that when people come together with a shared purpose, gardens become more than beautiful spaces—they become places where wellbeing grows, communities flourish and lives are enriched.
